But are your methods the most correct? People in my nation stand up for things that they want done and protest when something isn't done fast enough. In your nation, there is no freedom of speech or political freedom. Your methods work so far as to keep the population from rebelling, but this suppression of your people also sowes the seeds of hate, rebellion and desperation. Though your "" methods work in the temporal sense, I think that in the long term, the decision you are making will make the difference. In the end, your people will say "This is enough" and then there is no force in the world that can stop them. Yes, your methods work, but only to a certain extent and not in a permanent way.

As long as they are loyal servants to the Caliphate, no harm comes to them. Only those that oppose the government, those that go against the Caliphate, feel the Caliph's wrath. And, if they ever do rise up in rebellion, I'm certain the large biological armory of the Caliphate can sedate them. Machiavelli said that it is better to be feared than to be loved.

But who says that your military will always be on your side? How do you treat your military? Any better then your people? I like Machiavelli's quote, but I would like to rephrase it. "It is better to be loved by your people and feared by your enemy."

The military is treated with the utmost respect and caring, I assure you. The needs of the men at arms are doted upon. And who's to say the military owns the switch to wipe out the Caliphate? No, not even if the military was against me would they dare rise in rebellion. They know the consequence.
